Urban Digs Friends
Nothing brings folks together like food... especially when that food was grown locally by and with friends! Here are some of the great people and organizations we've met along the way:
Yummy Yards - Emi is a city girl with a passion for growing delicious, fresh vegetables in an ecologically, personally and economically sustainable way. Yummy Yards is our "sister farm" so you'll often see us working closely together.
Fresh Roots Urban Farm- committed to creating access to local, healthy, organically grown food in Vancouver through urban farming and community engagement. We share land with Fresh Roots in Steveston.
Earth Apple Farm - Shirlene runs a potato CSA and will be sharing our Burnaby plot with us along with Yummy Yards. Potatos are one of the foods you should never ever eat unless they are organic as conventional potatoes are sprayed FOUR times so sign up for this CSA today!
Southlands Heritage Farm - a small, family and friend run working farm that educates about friendly food systems and provides opportunity for people of all ages to experience farm life without leaving the city of Vancouver.
KJM Country Gardens - a family owned and operated garden center situated on a farm-like setting within the city of Vancouver. Stroll past the horses and chickens and discover a peaceful environment that will stimulate your senses.
Cherry Lane Farm - this little gem of a farm in Richmond has been in the Smart family for 3 generations and boasts one of the largest selection of organically grown tree fruits and heritage vegetables around. It is also home to the Urban Digs chickens.
Farmers on 57th - A project of the BC Coalition of People with Disabilities, these farmers run an agricultural project to transform one acre of the lush green space at George Pearson into community integrated gardens.
